Go Global With Jesus

“GO GLOBAL WITH JESUS”

Mark 16: 15 And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

·        Go Global With Jesus, is a command, a directive.

·        He didn’t ask if or will you go? He said go!

·        Nor did he call anyone by name; therefore you can make this personal and insert your name.

·        It’s hard to get us to go; go to church, go to prayer meeting, to choir rehearsal,

·         Go to the rest home, go to the hospital, go to teachers meeting,

·         Go to the revival, go to vacation bible school.

·         If we would just go.

·        He said go ye, we know he was talking to his disciples,

·        But ye is inclusive, it means you, and me

·        And everyone that is a Christian, a follower of Christ, a disciple.

·        It doesn’t matter which direction or where you start, for he said into all the world.

·        All means All!

The Bible teaches that this world will not end until the gospel has been preached to every creature and all nations (Matt: 24:14).

·        This is world evangelism!

·        It goes beyond these four walls.

·        The church of Christ is the Universal Church, a church without walls.

·         We assemble inside these walls to praise and worship God in service.

·         True church doesn’t begin until you walk out the door.

·        Do you love anyone? Have you helped somebody lately?

·        Have you fed the hungry? Have you visited the sick?

·        Have you been to the prison to encourage? Have you clothed the naked? Have you given the thirsty a drink? (water)

Matthew 25:40

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

·        I am reminded of a young man from a small city that lived in a neighborhood where everyone knew everyone.

·        He came from a large family and was the youngest of 10.

·        He grew from infancy to adulthood in the local church.

·        His Dad was a Deacon/Minister/Pastor and he had a Christian Mother.

·         This young man was well known to the small church community.

·        He was deceived and led to stray away down the path of destruction, the Jericho Road.

·        He was beaten and robbed, he was homeless,

·        And ate the meal of the swine from whatever trash can he could find.

·        As he walked the Jericho road the parishioners rode by in their Lincolns, Cadillacs, and Lexus.

·        The preacher crossed the road and passed on the other side.

·        Where was the Church? Where was the Love?

·         Where was the Outreach?

·        You know what we say, “Each one reach one”.

·        Are we not ministers of reconciliation?  A Royal Priesthood.

·        His mother prayed until you couldn’t tell whether she was crying or sweating;

·        His father pleaded, prayed, and preached every Sunday

the “parable of the prodigal son”, “the parable of the lost sheep”

·        He would often sing I Will Trust In The Lord, Father I Stretch My Hand To Thee, Because He Lives, The Lord Will Make A Way Some How, If I Can Help Somebody, Since I met Jesus.

There’s no need to ask what would Jesus Do?

·        We all know what Jesus did.

·        Jesus left the 99 and went after the one.

Mark 16:15

Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Let’s take a look at our text. This text actually reflects on and accentuates the essential truth of the Gospel; The Gospel is Jesus.

The Gospel is the prophecy (OT), Birth (NT), Life, Ministry, Death, Burial, Resurrection, Ascension, and Second Coming.

·        Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

·        These events and miracles solidify our belief, anchors our faith,

·        Establishes and constitutes the very structure and foundation of Christianity.

The setting or backdrop of today’s text is:

(A)  Crucifixion / Incarnation

(B)   Resurrection / Savior

(C)  Ascension  / Holy Spirit

After the 3rd day Mary, Mary remembered Jesus said

John 2:29

If you destroy this temple, I will raise it up in 3 days.

They went to anoint His body.  As they talked they realized 3 things:

THE STONE:

1.     They had a Concern

2.     They had an Issue

3.     They had a Problem

When they arrived at the tomb to their amazement:

A.   Stone was rolled away

B.   Empty Tomb

C.   He is risen (Angel spoke)

*Trying to figure it out / God has worked it out

There are 3 things they received at the tomb:

1.     Revelation (Affirmation)

2.     Theophany- Message (Confirmation)

3.     Go Tell It (Commission)

Mary, Mary were sent to tell Peter and the disciples that Jesus had risen and that he had gone ahead of them to meet them in Galilee.

·        But even after this eye witness report

·        The disciples didn’t believe.

·        Are we like the disciples? Do we believe?

Jesus had to deal with the disciples’ unbelief.

·        Jesus has to deal with our unbelief.

·        Unbelief is the reason the church will not embrace the Great Commission.

·        We don’t believe in the Incarnation, the Logos, the Word Made Flesh,

·        The Epiphany, the Revelation of God in the person of Jesus Christ.

·        We don’t believe in the Resurrection, that the eternal Spirit, God – raised Jesus from the dead.

·        We don’t believe in the Ascension of Christ, that we serve a Risen and Living Lord and Savior.

·        We don’t believe that He’s coming back again.

·        But, every now and then Jesus has to manifest Himself.

·        Manifest means to materialize, come into being, and show up.

·        Sometimes in order to get us to go – we have to encounter the Lord.

·         We need to have a (Theophany), personal – one on one experience.

·        Have you had one lately?

·        Jesus has to show us His scars and wounds before we believe.

·        Have you been on your sick bed lately?

·        Have you been under the surgeon’s knife?

·        Was the doctor’s report that you had cancer?

·        Maybe the diagnosis was diabetes, high blood pressure,

·        high cholesterol, heart attack,

·        Lupus, HIV, AIDS.

·        By chance did you happen to call on Jesus, and pray to our risen Lord and Savior?

·        When he had manifest, I wonder – did you recognize Him?

·        Maybe he looked like the doctor,

·        Or your sister or brother, your father or mother,

·         Your best friend, husband or wife,

  •         Maybe he looked like your pastor.
  •         Did you notice his scars and wounds?
  •         God is manifest in times of bereavement.
  •         God comes to visit us when our love ones die.
  •         Sometimes it’s not until Father is gone that we’re able to see the Resurrected Lord.
  •         Maybe it’s not until sister and children depart that we recognize His nail scarred hands and feet.
  •         Maybe it’s when brother is taken away that you recognize

 His sword pierced side.

The prophet Isaiah said in the year that King Uzziah died I saw also the Lord (Isaiah 6:1).

There are 3 things we have to do:

  1. Overcome Unbelief
  2. Embrace Truth
  3. Proclaim
